This Baton Rouge native became one of the greatest point guards in LSU history and was the floor leader of the 1981 Final Four and SEC Championship team that posted the first 30-win season in school history and a 17-1 record in SEC play.

Martin and fellow senior Durand Macklin led the Tigers to one of the best seasons in history in 1981. Martin set the tone on the court, averaging 11.5 points, 5.6 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Martin had 190 assists on the season, the fourth-highest total in LSU history. He was named first-team All-SEC and was a third-team All-American as a senior.

A second-team All-SEC selection as a junior, Martin averaged 11.9 points, 5.4 assists and 2.2 steals during the season. LSU finished the season as SEC Tournament Champions with a 26-6 overall record, 14-4 in the SEC.

As a freshman and sophomore, Martin averaged 8.6 and 9.7 points per game, respectively, and dished out a total of 274 assists in those two seasons.

He finished his career second in career assists with 638 and sixth in career free throws made with 390.
