Chad Dollar was named assistant coach on John Brady’s staff in May 2007 and the Atlanta native brings a wealth of college experience and coaching and recruiting ability.

The 35-year-old Dollar is an Atlanta, Ga., native and brings 12 years of college coaching experience and an extensive background in recruiting to LSU.

Dollar coached last season at Murray State, following four seasons at Georgia Southern. He was also an associate head coach at Eastern Kentucky, served two seasons at Western Carolina, a year at Southern Mississippi and two years at Gardner-Webb.

Dollar also spent two summers as an assistant coach with Athletes in Action.

Dollar comes from a basketball family, having been coached in high school in Atlanta at Douglass High by his father Don, one of the all-time winningest high school coaches in the state history. At Douglass, Dollar was an all-city selection in 1989. A second-team All-State performer in 1990. Dollar was a part of a DHS team that advanced to the Georgia Final Four and was one of seven players to sign with a NCAA Division I school after his junior season.

He played his first three seasons at South Florida on NCAA and NIT tournament teams before transferring to Milligan for his final season where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology.

Dollar’s younger brother, Cameron, is also an NCAA coach, entering his fifth year at the University of Washington. Cameron was a member of UCLA’s 1995 NCAA Championship team.

Chad Dollar has proven his recruiting abilities in his career, having recruited guard Elton Nesbitt, the SoCon Player of the Year and an honorable mention All-America pick in 2006 to complement seven all-conference picks in his four years on the Georgia Southern staff and he recruited Southern Conference freshman of the year Jarvis Hayes while at Western Carolina.

Dollar and his wife, Kyla, have two children — Darrien (10) and Aliyah (11).
