Brian Merritt Season 2024-25
Brian Merritt returns to the LSU staff for his second season serving as Coordinator of Basketball Operations, assisting Director of Operations Nelson Hernandez.
Merritt, a native of St. Mary’s County, Maryland, came to LSU prior to the 2017-18 season after serving as Director of Scouting/Recruiting for John Lucas Enterprises.
He has also had several stints in college programs, most recently at Arizona State during the 2015-16 season. He was also an assistant at Texas A&M Corpus Christi (2007-10) and Hampton (2006-07).
He also spent three years at the University of Louisville (2003-05) where he served as the Director of Basketball Operations and assisted in opponent scouting.
Merritt played two seasons of basketball in college. He played his first season at Butler (Pa.) Community College and as a walk-on at Towson University. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sports management in 2003 from Towson.
Merritt is considered a “jack-of-all-trades” and got his start in college basketball driving thousands of miles to camps along the East Coast.
In his stints at John Lucas Enterprises in Houston, Merritt helped establish the former NBA star’s development camps and assisted in the National Basketball Players Association Top 100 Camp.
