CAREER
An All-American center and two-time All-SEC selection, Todd McClure also served as offensive team captain his senior year … The Tigers’ starting center beginning midway through his freshman year … LSU was 25-12 with McClure as the starter at center … Played an integral role in LSU’s leadership in team rushing in 1996 and 1997 … His brother, Trey, was a starting infielder for the LSU baseball team … Winner of the 1996 Mike Miley Award, given annually to the most outstanding performance in spring drills by a sophomore … As a true freshman in 1995, his playing time increased throughout the year until becoming the Tigers’ starter when regular starter Marcus Carmouche was sidelined with an injury … Started LSU’s final three games in 1995, all victories, including the bowl win over Michigan State, and 33 of LSU’s last 35 games the last three years … Did not have a redshirt season … Played in 1999 Senior Bowl.
SENIOR SEASON (1998)
Named All-American by the American Football Coaches Association … On Outland Trophy checklist … Offensive team captain … Started every game except Kentucky … Returned to the starting lineup against Mississippi State after missing Kentucky game with a shin infection.
JUNIOR SEASON (1997)
Named to the first team All-SEC squad at center by the league’s coaches … Played and started 10 games in 1997 … Missed Akron game due to injury … Led LSU to the rushing title for the second straight year.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (1996)
Started every game at center for LSU … Helped lead LSU to 1996 SEC team rushing title … Graded out highly every game.
FRESHMAN SEASON (1995)
Got his first start as a Tiger against Ole Miss, replacing the injured Marcus Carmouche … LSU rushed for 326 yards in that game, the most yards rushing by the Tigers in eight years … Started again in regular season finale vs. Arkansas and opened at center in Independence Bowl … Saw considerable action at Alabama after Carmouche was injured on the last play of the first half … Also saw reserve action in LSU’s non-conference win over Rice.
HIGH SCHOOL
Named to all-parish team … Made 92 tackles, six QB sacks, and nine tackles for loss on defense … Honorable mention on the Baton Rouge Advocate’s Super Dozen team … Coached in high school by Brian Ensminger, the brother of former LSU quarterback Steve Ensminger … Todd’s brother, Trey, is a member of LSU’s College World Series baseball team.
