Played in 25 games for LSU, starting nine times … Drafted in seventh round of 2009 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers … Opted to leave LSU following his junior season … Capped career with 56 tackles, 10 tackles for losses and 5.5 sacks … Named defensive MVP of 2007 BCS National Championship Game … Also a member of the LSU track and field team.
JUNIOR SEASON (2008)
Played in 11 games with six starts … Finished with 20 tackles, three tackles for losses and a pair of sacks … Added a pair of QB hurries and a blocked one field goal … Blocked field goal came against top-ranked Alabama with time expiring which resulted in the game being sent to overtime … Injured a groin against Mississippi State in late September and missed games against Florida and South Carolina … Didn’t return to full strength until November … Had season-high of three tackles vs. North Texas and Georgia … Had a sack for a 9-yard loss vs. Arkansas … Finished year with a pair of tackles in bowl win over Georgia Tech.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2007)
Played in just two games for the Tigers after serving a 12-month suspension for an off the field issue … Returned to action for the SEC Championship Game and helped the Tigers to a 21-14 win over Tennessee … Finished season with a bang, earning defensive MVP honors in the BCS National Championship Game against Ohio State … Had six tackles, 1.5 tackles for losses, a half sack and blocked a field goal in LSU’s win over the Buckeyes … Added a quarterback hurry against Ohio State as he led a Tiger defense that dominated the Buckeyes … Had three tackles in SEC title game win over Tennessee.
REDSHIRT FRESHMAN SEASON (2006)
A key reserve on the Tigers’ defensive front, he was named a first-team Freshman All-American by the Sporting News … Saw action in 12 of the Tigers’ 13 games and earned his first career start against Auburn … Finished the Auburn game with three tackles, including one for loss, and a sack … Both the TFL and sack marked the first of his career … Recorded a career-high four tackles twice, first against Tulane and then vs. Alabama … Also recovered a fumble and blocked a field goal against the Green Wave … Against the Tide, had a career-high 1.5 TFL, a sack and broke up a pass … On the year, made 27 tackles and was credited with 5.5 TFL, three sacks, a blocked kick, a quarterback hurry, a fumble recovery and a broken up pass.
