JUNIOR SEASON (1989)
Was LSU’s third-leading rusher with 206 yards on 51 carries (4.0 avg.) and three TDs … Played in seven games and started first two (at Texas A&M, vs. Florida State) … sustained groin injury on first carry of second game of season and that injury hampered his output the remainder of the season … Also played vs. Florida, at Kentucky, at Ole Miss, vs. Alabama and vs. Miss. State … High game of 62 yards on 13 carries and one TD at Ole Miss … Rushed for 57 yards on 10 carries and two TDs vs. Miss. State … Caught two passes for 62 yards on the season, including one for 56 yards vs. Alabama … Returned 10 kickoffs for 237 yards (23.7 avg.) and a long of 55 … Suspended for disciplinary reasons for season finale at Tulane.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (1987)
Led the Tigers in rushing for the second consecutive year, gaining 1,001 yards on 154 carries, the sixth-best single season effort in LSU annals … was selected a first-team Sophomore All-America by Football News … Was named, along with tailback Sam Martin, as the second-best running back combination in the country in a late-season All-America preview by The Sporting News … Scored 11 touchdowns on the ground while averaging 6.5 yards per rush and 91.0 yards per game … Ranked fourth on the team in receiving with 20 receptions for 188 yards and one score … Was second on the team in scoring with 72 points … His season rushing total made him the fifth running back in the SEC to surpass the 1,ooo-yard rushing mark during the season … The total of six players accomplishing that feat in one season is a league first … Best game was a 10-carry, 196-yard, three-touchdown effort against Rice … The yardage total was the fifth-best single game effort in LSU history … In that game, he dashed 60 yards for a score on the first play from scrimmage, and broke a 25-year-old SEC record by averaging 19.6 yards per rush … Also caught one pass for 16 yards and had a 28-yard kickoff return in that contest … Rushed 19 times for 181 yards (2 TDs) and caught three passes for 30 yards against Tulane to earn SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors … carried 14 times for 165 yards, including a 76-yard touchdown sprint, vs. Ole Miss … The 76-yard dash was the longest rush by an LSU player since Dalton Hilliard raced 66 yards against Notre Dame in 1984 … Gained 70 yards on 15 carries and caught three passes for 52 yards, including a 25-yard reception, in the season opener at Texas A&M … Had his one scoring reception (24 yards) vs. Cal state-Fullerton and also scored rushing TDs against Florida, Kentucky (2), Mississippi State, and Cal State Fullerton … Returned two kickoffs for 38 yards, including the 28-yard runback vs. Rice.

FRESHMAN SEASON (1986)
Honored as a first-team Freshman All-America by Football News and was runner-up to teammate Tommy Hodson for SEC Rookie of the Year honors from the Florida Times Union … Named to the SEC All-Freshman team by the Knoxville News-Sentinel … Was cited as an honorable mention All-America by Football News and was listed in the tailback “stars of the future” in a late season All-America preview by The Sporting News … Tabbed second-team All-Louisiana by the Louisiana Sportswriters Association … Was named the UPI Southeast Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Georgia … Was LSU 1s leading rusher, with 700 yards on 178 carries … Scored six rushing touchdowns … Was also the Tigers’ third-leading receiver with 27 receptions for 272 yards … Gained 133 yards on 24 carries and scored one touchdown against Georgia … Teammate Sam Martin had 106 rushing yards in that game, which was the only time all season LSU had a back with 100 yards or more … Williams 1 second-best rushing effort was an 18-carry, 82-yard, one touchdown performance against Miami (Ohio) Scored his other touchdowns against Texas A&M, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Tulane … Against Kentucky, he caught six passes for 47 yards, and had five receptions for 18 yards against Miami (Ohio) . Had 14 carries for 56 yards and a score in his collegiate debut against Texas A&M on national television (ESPN) … Also had one pass reception for 30 yards in that game … Rushed for more than 50 yards in every game … . Ran back kickoffs the last two games and averaged 29.8 yards per return … Against Tulane, he cut the seams and had a 46-yard return — longest of the season for LSU.

HIGH SCHOOL
Was the Gatorade Circle of Champions Southwest Regional Player of the Year in 1985, and made virtually every prep All-America team … Was all-everything at Hempstead High, where he finished his career in sixth place on the Class 3A rushing list, several yards ahead of current Indianapolis Colts star Eric Dickerson … Williams had 5,883 yards and 70 touchdowns during his career … Played high school ball with his brother, Darrell, who is now his LSU teammate.
