Ranked No. 1 in the SEC and No. 5 in the nation in field goals per game (1.73) … No. 1 in the SEC in FG percentage (.830) … Hit 34-yard field goal with 28 second remaining against Alabama to give the Tigers a 19-18 victory … Kicked four field goals in a game on four different occasions … Team selected him as the LSU Special Teams player of the Year.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (1987)
First-team All-SEC selection by UPI … Second-team All-SEC by Associated Press … Booted 14 field goals as sophomore and, during one stretch in mid-season, hit eight consecutive field goal tries, and had that string snapped against Kentucky because of a blocked attempt … Booted a season-best 49-yard field goal vs. Miss. State and had a 47-yarder vs. Kentucky … Was the LSU special teams captain for Georgia game … Had outstanding Gator Bowl game as he drilled three of three FG tries (27, 18, 23 yards) and hit all three PAT attempts in the Tigers’ 30-13 win over South Carolina.
FRESHMAN SEASON (1986)
Earned SEC All-Freshman team honors from the Knoxville News-Sentinel after finishing as the Tigers’ second-leading scorer with 61 points … Kicked a collegiate career-best 52-yard field goal vs. Ole Miss.
