CAREER
A junior college transfer from Hinds Junior College, he came into his own his senior season when he finished second in the nation in pass interceptions and earned All-SEC honors … Started all 22 games at right cornerback in 1996 and 1997, as well as both postseason bowl games.
SENIOR SEASON (1997)
An All-SEC selection, he was named first team by SEC Coaches and second team by the AP … Led the nation in pass interceptions for part of the season and finished tied for No. 2 in NCAA in interceptions per game … Fell just one short of the LSU record for interceptions in a season with seven … Returned two interceptions for TDs, one each in wins vs. UTEP and then-No. 1 Florida … Started eight games and played in all 11 at right cornerback … The SEC Defensive Player of the Week in upset of top-ranked Florida, as he made two interceptions and returned one for a touchdown that gave LSU a 21-14 lead … Starts came in final eight games of the year as he moved into a starting role with Akron game … Totaled 50 tackles on the season with one QB sack at Vanderbilt … Returned interception 31 yards for TD in win against UTEP … Picked off two passes against UTEP … Also intercepted two passes vs. Florida … Made one interception each vs. Akron, at Vanderbilt, at Kentucky … Knocked down three passes against Auburn … High tackle game of 12 vs. Florida to lead team.
JUNIOR SEASON (1996)
JUCO transfer who stepped in to give Tigers a strong starter at right corner … Started all 11 games at RCB … Foiled Auburn’s last chance to win when he made interception at the LSU 47 with 26 seconds to go, preserving LSU’s 19-15 win … Intercepted two-point conversion try by Houston in LSU’s one-point victory to open season … Made 41 tackles on the season and broke up three passes … High tackle game of eight vs. Vanderbilt … Also had six tackles in opener vs. Houston … Five tackles at Florida.
JUNIOR COLLEGE
Chosen All-Region 23 in 1995 … Named second-team All-America in 1995 by the National Junior College Athletic Association … Played his high school career at Provine High School in Jackson prior to his two years at Hinds … Intercepted six passes and returned two for touchdowns (80 yards and 90 yards) … Played his junior college career at Hinds Junior College under head coach Gene Murphy.
