Four-year letterwinner as an offensive lineman for the Tigers from 1994-97 … Named one of two permanent team captains for the 1997 team along with Chuck Wiley … Appeared in 44 games in his four years with the Tigers, starting 29 times … Helped lead the Tigers three consecutive bowl appearances from 1995-97 … Started all 12 games in 1996, helping LSU to a 10-2 mark and a win over Clemson in the Peach Bowl … The 10 wins were the most by an LSU team since 1987 … Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll four times and was selected to the GTE Academic All-America Region VI Team as a junior in 1996 … Received the Butch Duhe Award in 1997, an honor presented annually to the LSU football player who best personifies the character and along with contributions to the program and to the University … Recipient of the Eric Andolsek Award in 1997 for his performance in spring practice that year … In 1996, helped the Tigers lead the SEC in both rushing yards and rushing touchdowns … Redshirted as a true freshman in 1993 after joining the program following an all-state prep career at Covington High School … Started 5 games as a redshirt freshman in 1994 and earned a spot on the Knoxville News-Sentinel Freshman All-SEC Team … Started every game at left guard as a junior in 1996 and again as a senior in 1997 … Graduated from LSU in December of 1997 with a degree in kinesiology … Went on to medical school where he became a fellow-trained and board-certified orthopedic surgeon, specializing in sports medicine … One of his sons, Thomas, followed in his footsteps to LSU and played football for the Tigers from 2019-22.
