CC prior to the 2008 season and helped lead the Tigers to the ’08 College World Series  … tied for the 2008 NCAA lead in home runs (28) with Georgia shortstop Gordon Beckham … began his professional career in the San Diego Padres organization in July 2008.

Started 64 games (57 at first base, six at DH, one at third base), batting .344 (78-for-227) with 17 doubles, 28 homers, 64 RBI and 57 runs . . . tied for the NCAA lead in home runs with Georgia shortstop Gordon Beckham …  finished No. 2 in the SEC in slugging percentage (.789), No. 3 in total bases (179), No. 8 in RBI (64), No. 9 in on-base percentage (.447) and No. 10 in walks (40) … hit .448 (13-for-29) in LSU’s NCAA Tournament games with  four 2B, six HR, 12 RBI and 10 runs … 2-for-8 in the College World Series with two homers, three RBI and two runs … hit .500 (5-for-10) in the NCAA Super Regional vs. UC Irvine with two 2B, one HR, three RBI and three runs … named to the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional all-tournament team – batted .545 (6-for-11), with two 2B, three HR, six RBI, a 1.545 slugging percentage and a .583 on-base percentage …voted to SEC All-Tournament team — batted .267 (4-for-15) in four games with one double, three homers and five RBI … launched game-winning two-out, two-run homer in top of ninth inning at Kentucky (May 4) … batted .462 (6-for-13) in three-games series at Florida (March 28-30) with three homers and four RBI … unloaded grand slam in the Tigers’ 12-1 victory over Michigan State on March 5; first grand slam by an LSU player since Blake Gill unloaded one against Arizona State on March 13, 2005 … homered twice in one inning vs. Duquesne (March 1)

Power-hitter while at Riverside (Calif.) Community College … earned 2007 First-Team JUCO All-American honors … named a Top- 150 prospect by Baseball America … batted .350 with 15 homers, 70 RBI and a .620 slugging percentage during Riverside’s drive to the 2007 California JUCO state title … named MVP of the California state championship tournament … was first-team All-California and first-team All-Southern California … teammate of fellow LSU signee Rene Escobar at Riverside CC.

Enjoyed an outstanding career at Etiwanda High as he was named the 10th best third base prospect in the nation by Team One Baseball … ranked by Baseball America magazine as the 158th best overall prospect in the U.S. and as the 22nd best prospect in California … batted .418 (28-for-67) in his senior season with 10 doubles, one triple, two homers and 13 RBI.

Full name is Matthew Terry Clark … parents are Terry and Lorraine Clark … Terry Clark pitched in the major leagues for the Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles, California Angels, Cleveland Indians, Houston Astros, Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers … born December 10, 1986.
