Made 14 appearances (five starts), posting a 2-3 mark and a 4.79 ERA in 41.1 innings with 15 walks and 30 strikeouts … right-handed batters hit just .238 (25-for-105) against him during the year … worked four innings as a starter in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional vs. Marist (June 3), allowing four earned runs on seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts … earned relief victory in 13-inning game at New Orleans (May 18), hurling the final three innings without allowing a run on two hits; struck out one and walked one in the win … relief win at Georgia (March 20), as he pitched 1.1 innings, allowing no earned runs on one hit with one walk and two strikeouts … three shutout relief innings vs. Northwestern State (April 12), allowing four hits with three Ks and no walks … pitched four innings vs. Rice (April 6) in a starting role; limited the Owls to no runs on one hit with two Ks and one walk … pitched a season-high 6.1 innings vs. Southeastern Louisiana (March 23), allowing two runs on six hits with two strikeouts … worked five innings in a start vs. Tulane (March 8), allowing four runs on three hits with five Ks and three walks.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2004)
Appeared in 18 games (team-high 15 starts), posting a 6-2 mark and a 3.84 ERA in a team-high 100.2 innings with 28 walks and 75 strikeouts (most Ks on the LSU staff) … allowed more than four earned runs just once in his 15 starts on the year … named to the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional all-tournament team after firing a brilliant seven-hit shutout in the Tigers’ regional opener against Army (June 4) … recorded a career-best nine strikeouts with no walks in defeating the Cadets … recorded eight Ks in 8.1 innings at South Carolina (March 19), limiting the Gamecocks to three runs on seven hits with three walks (LSU won in extra innings) … worked 7.2 innings versus Alabama (May 2), limiting the Tide to one run on eight hits with one walk and three Ks in a 2-1 LSU victory … tied career high with nine strikeouts in SEC Tournament versus Florida (May 26); allowed four runs on eight hits in 6.1 innings with two walks.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2003)
Appeared in 16 games (14 starts), recording an 8-3 mark and a team-best 2.83 ERA … worked 95.1 innings, registering 25 walks and 62 strikeouts … finished No. 5 in the SEC in ERA, No. 7 in wins, No. 11 in innings pitched … 4-2 record with a 3.61 ERA in 52.1 innings of SEC regular-season games … fired a complete game in his final outing of the season, a 20-5 victory over Baylor in the NCAA Super Regional (June 8), propelling LSU to the College World Series … limited the Bears to five runs on 12 hits in nine innings with two walks and three strikeouts … only other post-season action came in the SEC Tournament championship game versus Alabama (May 25); he was charged with the loss after allowing just one earned run on seven hits in 6.1 innings with two walks and five strikeouts … fired a complete game versus South Carolina (April 4) in his first career SEC start, limiting the Gamecocks to one run on 10 hits with no walks and eight strikeouts … defeated Auburn (May 9), working seven innings and allowing four runs on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts … earned victory over Arkansas (May 18), firing eight shutout innings while scattering five hits … earned a save in a critical situation in Game 3 of the Alabama series (March 30), retiring the final two Crimson Tide batters with the bases loaded to preserve an 11-10 win.
