Powerful prospect who started in 103 games during his LSU career (2005-07) … started 30 games at first base and 24 games at DH in 2006; also served as LSU’s primary designated hitter in 2005 when he earned Freshman All-SEC recognition … redshirted as a true freshman in 2004 … the 49th-round selection of the Cincinnati Reds in the 2003 major league draft … competed in the prestigious Baseball America/World Wood Bat league in the summer of 2003.
JUNIOR SEASON (2007)
Played in 29 games with 18 starts (11 at first base, four at DH, three in left field), batting .213 (13-for-61) with one double, one triple, four homers, eight RBI and 14 runs … 2-for-4 with a towering two-run blast in win over Nicholls State (May 1).
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2006)
Appeared in 55 games (54 starts), batting .301 (53-for-176) with eight doubles, six homers, 30 RBI and 35 runs … homered in three straight games at Tennessee (4/9), vs. Northwestern State (4/11) and Alabama (4/14) … missed LSU’s first four games of the year after recovering from a broken left thumb he sustained on Jan. 20 … instrumental in leading the Tigers to a 7-2 win over UNO (4/26), going 3-for-3 with two RBI … one of three Tigers to connect for three-run homers in a 12-0 win vs. Northwestern State (4/11) … launched a two-run homer in seventh inning at Tennessee (4/9), breaking a 2-2 tie and lifting LSU to a 6-2 victory and series win … part of back-to-back homers that erased a 3-0 deficit vs. Stetson (3/11) … drove in a season-high three runs in a 9-0 win over Temple (2/26); 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in the second inning … RBI single in his first at-bat since returning from injury against Tennessee Tech (2/17) … delivered again for the Tigers the following day, going 2-for-4 with two RBI in a Game 2 victory (2/18).
REDSHIRT FRESHMAN SEASON (2005)
Played in 42 games (28 starts at DH, three starts at first base), batting .313 (36-for-115) with 13 doubles, one triple, four homers, 26 RBI and 16 runs … earned Freshman All-SEC honors as voted upon by the league’s coaches … batted .343 (23-for-67) over the final 23 games of the season with nine doubles, three homers, 14 RBI and 11 runs … hit .308 (20-for-65) in SEC regular-season games with seven doubles, two homers, 10 RBI and eight runs … 4-for-15 in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional with one double, one homer, four RBI and three runs … 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in NCAA Regional victory over Marist (June 3) … doubled and drove in a run in NCAA Regional victory over Northwestern State (June 6) … 5-for-14 in Tennessee series (May 13-15) with three runs scored, one homer and four RBI … launched three-run homer at Arkansas (April 23) to lead Tigers to a 7-0 victory … delivered a game-tying pinch-hit two-run double in the eighth inning off of Georgia all-America reliever Will Startup (March 20); the hit erased a 4-2 deficit as the Tigers went on to claim a 6-4 win … enjoyed a stellar collegiate debut with one triple, one homer and six RBI vs. Nicholls State (Feb. 11).

Product of Alexandria (La.) High School … earned four letters in baseball (third base/first base/pitcher) and one letter in football (defensive end) … batted .406 during his career with 20 homers and 80 RBI … posted a 26-5 career mark on the mound with a 1.53 ERA and 213 strikeouts in 173.2 innings … member of four district champion teams, including the 2003 season where he hit a stellar .460 with six homers and 21 RBI … also recorded a 10-2 record on the hill with a 0.75 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 65 innings in 2003 … a consensus all-state, all-region and all-district selection.
