Outstanding hurler who signed with the Philadelphia Phillies after being selected in the 32nd round of the 2003 draft … elected to return to LSU for his senior season after he was selected in the 28th round of the 2002 draft by the Texas Rangers … a JUCO all-American who came to LSU from the same JC which produced former LSU pitchers Jake Esteves (1996-98) and Brandon Bowe (1998-99), former LSU catcher Conan Horton (1996-97) and former LSU outfielder David Raymer (2000-02).

SENIOR SEASON (2003)
Appeared in 18 games (10 starts), posting a 3-5 mark and a 5.23 ERA in 65.1 innings with 25 walks and 75 strikeouts … began the season in LSU’s weekend starting rotation, but was moved to the bullpen in late March … defeated Northeastern (May 30) in the first game of the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional, allowing four runs on nine hits in seven innings with one walk and eight strikeouts … earned a win over Loyola-New Orleans (May 6), firing three perfect innings with four Ks … pitched brilliantly in a win over Tulane (April 15), allowing no runs on one hit in five innings with one walk and seven strikeouts … earned a save at Georgia (March 23), pitching one shutout inning with one K …also picked up a save with 3.2 solid innings at Alabama (March 29), allowing two runs on four hits with one walk and six Ks … recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts in LSU’s season-opener versus Northwestern State (Feb. 7), allowing one unearned run on four hits in 5.2 innings with one walk.

JUNIOR SEASON (2002)
Appeared in 25 games (eight starts), recording a 7-1 mark and a 2.68 ERA in 87.1 innings with 37 walks, 96 strikeouts and four saves … surrendered 78 hits and 37 runs (26 earned), and limited opponents to a .246 batting average … allowed only two of 20 inherited runners to score and allowed just one hit in 13 bases-loaded situations … completed the season No. 4 in the SEC in ERA (2.68) and strikeouts (96), and No. 6 in opponents’ batting average (.246) … began the season as a weekend starter, but was moved to the bullpen at the end of March to serve as LSU’s closer … before the switch to the pen, he was 2-0 with a 3.57 in six starts; after the switch, he was 5-1 with a 1.91 ERA and four saves in 19 appearances (two starts) … pitched one relief inning in the NCAA Super Regional at Rice (June 8), allowing no runs on one hit with one strikeout … pitched brilliantly in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional, as he was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament … in two regional appearances (one start), he was 2-0 with a 1.59 ERA in 11.1 innings, recording four walks and 13 strikeouts … defeated Southern as a reliever in the first game of the regional (May 31), allowing two runs on four hits with one walk and eight strikeouts … came back on one day’s rest to start the first game of the regional championship round versus Louisiana-Lafayette (June 2), earning the win by working 6.1 innings and allowing one unearned run on seven hits with three walks and five strikeouts … made two relief appearances in the SEC Tournament, posting an 0-1 mark and a 2.25 ERA in four innings while allowing four hits and three runs (one earned) with one walk and five strikeouts … 2-0 mark with a 3.41 ERA and four saves in SEC regular-season games; in 37 innings, he allowed 33 hits and 19 runs (14 earned) with 24 walks and 37 strikeouts … registered saves in SEC regular-season games versus Mississippi State (March 30), at Auburn (April 7), at South Carolina (April 19) and versus Alabama (May 18) … recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts in 4.2 innings in a starting assignment at UNO (April 30); credited with the victory after allowing no runs on two hits with no walks … earned first career LSU win in a start versus Birmingham-Southern (Feb. 10), allowing five runs on six hits in 6.2 innings with four walks and seven strikeouts.

JUNIOR COLLEGE
An all-America and all-Bay Valley Conference selection at Sacramento CC … as a junior in 2000, he posted a 9-1 mark at a 2.00 ERA with 80 strikeouts and 15 walks in 65 innings.

HIGH SCHOOL
Earned three letters in baseball (pitcher, utility) and two letters in football (quarterback) at Placer High School in Auburn, Calif… . earned baseball MVP honors his senior year in the Sierra Foothill League … helped lead the football squad as a senior to the SFL championship.
