Power-hitting performer who earned 2006 Freshman All-America honors … played as LSU’s primary second baseman in 2006 and started 40 games at third base in 2007.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2007)
Played in 43 games (40 starts at third base), batting .234 (32-for-137) with nine doubles, three triples, two homers, 19 RBI and 16 runs … also made two pitching appearances, firing two scoreless innings while allowing two hits with one strikeout … 2-for-3 with one double, one homer and a career-best five RBI vs. Southern (May 1) … 3-for-3 with one RBI at Centenary (March 6).
FRESHMAN SEASON (2006)
Started 58 of the Tigers’ 59 games, batting .299 (66-for-221) with 13 doubles, 11 homers, 40 RBI and 34 runs scored … hit .354 (23-for-65) on the year with runners in scoring position … second on the team in multi-hit games (19), doubles, homers, slugging percentage (.507) and RBI … his 11 homers on the year were the most by an LSU freshman since Mike Fontenot (now with the Chicago Cubs) had 17 in 2000; eight of Wise’s blasts came in SEC games … started 27 games at second base, 15 at designated hitter, 13 at first base and three at third base … produced four RBI in win at Auburn (5/7); lined an RBI single in the fifth inning to cap a three-run rally, and he launched a two-out, three-run homer in the seventh inning to give LSU a 6-2 advantage … spearheaded LSU to a series victory over No. 8 Alabama (4/14-16), providing the game-winning hits in Games 1 and 2; delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning in Game 1 to break a 6-6 tie and lift the Tigers to a 7-6 victory; he converted on a critical RBI opportunity in Game 2, launching a three-run homer in the seventh inning to a break a 5-5 tie and propel LSU to an 8-6 win … named LSWA Player of the Week on April 18 as he batted .538 (7-for-13) in four games with one double, two homers, six runs and 10 RBI … named SEC Freshman of the Week on March 13 as he hit .563 (9-for-16) in four games vs. Tulane and Stetson with one double, one homer and two RBI … seven-game hitting streak from April 8-18, batting .440 (11-for-25) with two doubles, four homers, eight runs and 13 RBI … 4-for-5 with a homer, two runs, one RBI in the series finale vs. Mississippi State (3/26).
HIGH SCHOOL
A product of Apopka High School … lettered four years in baseball (catcher, pitcher, infielder) and also played football (defensive lineman) … all-state, all-metro and all-central Florida three years in a row … for his career, belted 24 homers and batted .390 … spearheaded Apopka to four district championships … named MVP of the Florida State All-Star Game … inducted into Metro Conference Hall of Fame … honor roll student in the classroom.
PERSONAL
Full name is Jeremy Tyler Wise … parents are Sonny and Mary Wise … has one older brother, Nicky and one older sister, Stacy … father, Sonny, was his head baseball coach at Apopka High School … J.T. is the great nephew of former New York Yankee Bobby Richardson, a five-time Gold Glove winner and MVP of the 1960 World Series … chose to attend LSU because of “the tradition, the Academic Center, the field of study and the fans” … credits his father with having the greatest influence on his athletic career, along with lifelong friend Adam Michael Stratton, who passed away on May 20, 2005 … a wildlife and fisheries major at LSU … born June 2, 1986 in Orlando, Fla.
