Veteran infielder who started 23 games in 2002 at first base and DH; however, his 2003 season was interrupted by a torn ACL injury suffered during practice in late February … former JUCO prospect who enrolled at LSU in January of 2001.
SENIOR SEASON (2003)
Appeared in three games (two starts) prior to his ACL injury, going 2-for-6 at the plate with one run scored.
JUNIOR SEASON (2002)
Appeared in 35 games (23 starts), batting .278 (27-for-97) with six doubles, three homers, 17 runs and 17 RBI … started 21 games at DH and two games at first base … hitless in two at-bats in NCAA Baton Rouge Regional; did not appear in the NCAA Super Regional at Rice … did not play in the SEC Tournament, but in SEC regular-season games, batted .262 (11-for-42) with four doubles, two homers, seven runs and five RBI … launched first career LSU homer at Centenary (Feb. 20) … delivered pinch-hit homer in win over Mississippi State (March 30) and also homered in win at Tennessee (May 4) … 4-for-5 at the plate versus Tulane (March 5) with one RBI.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2001)
Appeared in two games as a reserve first baseman, going 1-for-5 at the plate with one RBI and two runs.
JUNIOR COLLEGE
Played first base at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, Calif… . batted .358 in 2000 with nine homers and 58 RBI … served as team captain and was named the squad’s offensive player of the year.
HIGH SCHOOL
Played first base, outfield and catcher at Corona del Mar High in Newport Beach … hit .333 with two homers as a sophomore, .338 with six homers as a junior and .400 with 12 homers as a senior … served as team captain, earning all-district and all-league honors.
