Talented right-handed hurler who pitched very well in relief at the end of the 2005 season … should contend for a significant relief or starting role this season … played two seasons at Florida International before transferring to LSU in the fall of 2004 … shined in the Coastal Plains Summer League in 2004, along with LSU teammate Chris Cahill … was very effective that summer as the Edenton Steamers closer, producing a 0.83 ERA and nine saves in 20 appearances … surrendered only nine hits and three walks in 21.2 innings while striking out 30.
2005 SEASON
Made 17 relief appearances, recording an 0-1 mark with a 4.50 ERA and one save … registered 13 walks and 33 strikeouts in 36 innings … 0.96 ERA in three postseason appearances, allowing just one run on nine hits in 9.1 innings with two walks and seven Ks … pitched very well in two appearances in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional; fired a total of 5.2 shutout innings, allowing four hits with no walks and four strikeouts … threw 2.2 scoreless innings in regional game vs. Marist (June 3), allowing three hits with one strikeout … fired three shutout frames to earn save in regional contest vs. Northwestern State (June 6), allowing one hit with three Ks … worked 3.2 innings in the SEC Tournament vs. Mississippi State (May 25), allowing one run on five hits with two walks and three Ks … 2.2 scoreless relief innings at New Orleans (May 18), allowing one hit and recording a career-best five strikeouts … excellent outing at Alabama (April 3) – 3.1 innings, no runs on two hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
2004 SEASON (at Florida International University)
Made only two appearances on the season, allowing no runs before suffering an arm injury … Received medical redshirt.
2003 SEASON (at Florida International University)
Led Florida International in appearances (25) and was second on the team in ERA (3.44) … saved six games and held opponents to a .221 batting average in 36.2 innings.
