Talented athlete who played two seasons (2007 and 2005) with the LSU baseball team … also served as a starting punter and placekicker (2003 through 2006) for the LSU football team … signed a free agent deal with the Buffalo Bills in the spring of 2007 … received a redshirt baseball season in 2004 before breaking into the starting lineup in 2005 at third base … was expected to contend for a starting role in the 2006 LSU infield after earning Freshman All-SEC honors in 2005; however, he underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in January 2006 (injury occurred while covering a kickoff in football game at Vanderbilt during ’05 season) and missed the entire baseball season.
JUNIOR SEASON (2007)
Played in 36 games (33 starts) with 16 starts at second base, 13 at third base, three at first base and one in left field … finished as the team’s second-leading hitter, batting .292 (40-for-137) with nine doubles, one homer, 15 RBI, 22 runs and 11 stolen bases … hit .286 (24-for-84) in SEC games with five doubles, six RBI, 14 runs and four steals … enjoyed an excellent weekend in the Tigers’ series victory at Arkansas (May 4-6), batting .385 (5-for-13) with one double and three RBI … in LSU’s 6-5 victory on May 4, Jackson had three hits and drove in three runs, including the game-winner with a ninth-inning single.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2006)
Was expected to contend for a starting role in the 2006 LSU infield after earning Freshman All-SEC honors in 2005; however, he underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in January 2006 (injury occurred while covering a kickoff in football game at Vanderbilt during ’05 season) and missed the entire baseball season.
REDSHIRT FRESHMAN SEASON (2005)
Appeared in 36 games, starting 27 at third base and one at second base … batted .305 (39-for-128) with three doubles, one triple, one homer, 17 RBI and 29 runs … 12-for-35 (.343) on the year with runners in scoring position … made first career start on April 10 vs. South Carolina (at second base) and was a fixture in the lineup at third base for the remainder of the season … was the Tigers’ leadoff hitter in 20 of his 28 starts … named to the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional all-tournament team after hitting .333 (6-for-18) in four games with one RBI and seven runs … LSU’s leading hitter at the SEC Tournament, batting .500 (3-for-6) … hit .375 (9-for-24) in all postseason games with one RBI and seven runs … displayed his versatility on April 16 vs. Ole Miss – he played in the LSU football spring game in the early afternoon before hustling across the street to Alex Box Stadium, where he helped lead LSU to victory with a 3-for-5, one double, one RBI and one run effort at the plate (he arrived at the baseball game just 30 minutes prior to first pitch and did not take batting practice or infield) … 3-for-6 with a double, his first collegiate homer, four RBI and four runs vs. Northwestern State (April 12).
FRESHMAN SEASON (2004)
Received a redshirt baseball season in 2004.
HIGH SCHOOL
Earned four letters in baseball and football at John Curtis High School … won state titles in both football and baseball as a junior … batted .519 as a junior … rated the No. 5 kicker in the nation by Rivals.com and also served as the starting quarterback for the Patriots.
