MLB Draft: 4th round in 2007 (Detroit)

A weekend starter for LSU during the 2007 season before signing a contract with the Detroit Tigers (fourth round draft selection) in June of ’07 … came to LSU in the fall of 2006 as the No. 1 southpaw pitching prospect in the prestigious Cape Cod League … an intimidating presence on the mound … live fastball that tops out at 94 mph with a deceptive changeup and curve … ranked the 10th-best overall prospect in the Cape Cod League by Baseball America after a brilliant stint with the Hyannis Mets … received the 2006 John Claffey New England Top Prospect Award after posting a 3-2 record with a 1.83 ERA in a team-high 54 innings of work … started seven games, struck out 50 hitters and held opponents to a .212 batting average … named to the Cape Cod All-League Team … in a 133-pitch outing on July 26, 2006, fired a no-hitter against the Bourne Braves in a 14-0 victory … struck out 12 in the outing and walked three … started the Cape Cod League All-Star game for the West squad and threw a scoreless frame … tossed 8.1 brilliant innings in defeating the Cape’s top team, the Cotuit Kettleers.

JUNIOR SEASON (2007)
Made 16 weekend starts for the Tigers, posting a 3-9 record and a 4.95 ERA in 87.1 innings … recorded 37 walks and a team-best 88 strikeouts (No. 10 in the SEC) … defeated Saint Mary’s in LSU debut (Feb. 9), allowing no runs on five hits in 5.2 innings with three BB and seven Ks … season-high 8 IP in win over Southern Mississippi (March 9), allowing one unearned run on three hits with no BB and five Ks … recorded 10 Ks on two occasions – at South Carolina (March 16, 6.1 IP) and at Alabama (March 30, 6.0 IP).

FRESHMAN/SOPHOMORE SEASONS (2005-06 Saint Joseph’s College)
Ace pitcher for Saint Joseph’s College in Maine for two seasons … enjoyed a stellar sophomore season with a 10-1 record and a 2.89 ERA in a team-high 74.2 innings pitched … started eight games, walked 22, struck out 115 and held opponents to a .185 batting average in 2006 … fired five complete games … selected as the 2005 North Atlantic Conference Co-Player of the Year as a freshman after compiling a 7-1 record with a 1.75 ERA … walked only 11 batters and struck out 70 in 2005 … also batted .392 with 32 RBI.
