Veteran southpaw who will be one of the Tigers’ top pitchers … capable of working both as a starter and reliever … worked eight innings in LSU’s 2001 fall intra-squad games, posting a 4.50 ERA with one walk and five Ks … a member of the 2001 SEC Academic Honor Roll with a 3.1 gpa in management … red-shirted as a true freshman in 1999.
2001 Season: Appeared in 24 games as a reliever, posting a 2-1 mark and a 4.40 ERA with 23 walks and 32 strikeouts in 30.2 innings … made one post-season appearance, a 1.1 inning outing vs. Virginia Commonwealth (May 26) in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional; he allowed one earned run on no hits with two walks … recorded a career-high six Ks in a save vs. Northwestern State (April 17), as he worked 2.2 hitless innings and allowed one unearned run … pitched three innings with four strikeouts vs. Kansas State (Feb. 11) to earn first career LSU save … picked up first career LSU victory at Georgia (March 10), working two scoreless innings with no walks and three strikeouts … earned a relief win vs. Florida (March 16), as he pitched three scoreless and hitless innings with one walk and three strikeouts … earned save at South Carolina (April 6) with 0.2 inning of scoreless relief (one strikeout).
2000 Season: Appeared in one game (vs. Northwestern State, April 25), working one hitless and scoreless relief inning … recorded one walk and three strikeouts in the outing.
High School: Lettered three years for the Bears … named first team all-district as a junior and senior … went 9-3 with a 1.05 ERA and 123 strikeouts in 73 innings in 1998, earning first-team all-state honors and pitching in the LHSCA All-Star game … finished with a 17-5 career mark . . coached by Gerry Garidel.
