Redshirted as a true freshman for the 2006 season … elected not to return to LSU for the 2007 season.

Three-sport athlete at Bay High School in Panama City … put together a terrific career with a 20-7 record and 1.40 ERA … for his career, recorded 301 strikeouts and held opponents to a .126 batting average … consensus all-state, all-district selection junior and senior seasons … named the 2005 class 4A Player of the Year after going 8-3 with a 1.82 ERA and 100 strikeouts … recorded three no hitters … named Panama City News Herald Player of the Week numerous times … holds the school record for strikeouts in a game at 20 … Tremendous two-way, all-state player in football (tight end, linebacker) … received the Panama City News Herald’s Defensive Player of the Year award in 2004 … also was a forward on the basketball team … named to the Bay High School Hall of Fame after maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout his career.
