Keith Thompson provides athletic training services for the LSU track & field team and coordinates the substance abuse prevention program for LSU’s student-athletes. In addition to his primary duties, Thompson assists with teaching responsibilities for the athletic training education program. Thompson served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at LSU from 1995-1997 working with the Tiger football, swimming & diving, and volleyball programs.

Thompson graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and earned his master’s degree in sport administration from LSU in 1997.

Following the completion of his master’s degree at LSU, Thompson served as an assistant athletic trainer at Wake Forest University from 1997-1998 working with the field hockey and men’s tennis teams.
 
Prior to his return to LSU, Thompson was an assistant athletic trainer from 1998-2002 at the United States Military Academy. While at West Point, Thompson worked with a myriad of Army teams including football, basketball, soccer, gymnastics, wrestling, and ice hockey.

In addition to being a Certified Athletic Trainer, Thompson is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Thompson resides in Baton Rouge and is married to the former Melissa Hargrave.
