Signed with the San Francisco Giants after being selected in the sixth round of the 2003 draft … served as LSU’s closer in 2003, his only season with the Tigers … transferred to LSU in the fall of 2002 from Pensacola (Fla.) JC … pitched 23.2 innings in LSU’s fall 2002 intra-squad games, recording a 4.27 ERA with 18 strikeouts and a .216 opponents’ batting average … was the 30th-round selection of the Seattle Mariners in the 2001 major league draft.

JUNIOR SEASON (2003)
Pitched in 28 games (one start) … finished fourth in the SEC in number of appearances … posted a 1-2 mark and a 3.89 ERA in 44 innings with 27 walks and 57 strikeouts … collected four saves and limited opponents to a .221 cumulative batting average … earned first career LSU save on April 12 versus Ole Miss, allowing no hits in 1.1 innings with one K … earned save at Vanderbilt (April 20), firing two shutout innings with no hits and two strikeouts … clutch outing to earn save versus Auburn (May 9), allowing one run on one hit in two innings with three strikeouts … also picked up a save in the SEC Tournament against Arkansas (May 22), firing 1.2 shutout innings with two Ks … worked one scoreless inning with one K in Game 1 of NCAA Super Regional versus Baylor (June 6) … pitched 1.2 innings in LSU’s College World Series games versus Cal State Fullerton and South Carolina, allowing one run on two hits with one walk and two strikeouts … was charged with the loss in the South Carolina contest (June 15).

JUNIOR COLLEGE
Played two seasons at Pensacola (Fla.) Junior College … worked 58 innings in 2002, posting a 3.68 ERA with 29 walks and 84 strikeouts.

HIGH SCHOOL
Product of Pensacola Catholic High School, where he was named the Class 3A Player of the Year in 2000 as a pitcher and shortstop … recorded a 4-1 pitching mark with a 0.72 ERA in 2000, including three shutouts; also hit .452 with eight homers and 41 RBI … voted to the Pensacola Catholic High Hall of Fame … member of the all-academic team.
