Taylor Fogleman, who led the Tigers back to the NCAA Tournament and added three new All-American honors to the program, enters his second year as the LSU women’s tennis team’s head coach for the 2023-24 season.

In his first year at the helm, Fogleman led the Tigers to a 13-11 record, an eight game improvement from the 2021-22 season prior. LSU also picked up its first win in the SEC Tournament since 2019 after outlasting host-team Arkansas in a four hour match that finished 4-3. The Tigers then earned an at-large berth to the 2023 NCAA Tournament, marking the first time in program history that a first-year head coach led the program to the national stage. The Tigers were defeated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and finished ranked No. 41 in the ITA national team rankings and No. 2 in the ITA Southern Regional rankings.

Under Fogleman, individuals also saw tremendous success. Redshirt freshman Anastasiya Komar had one of the best individual seasons in program history under Fogleman, posting a 33-8 singles record and a 32-10 doubles record. Komar earned individual glory in the form of claiming the ITA Southern Regional’s single and doubles (with partner Nikita Vishwase) in October and rolled her good form into the spring season, where she posted a 19-2 record in singles playing primarily at the No. 1 singles court and a 16-4 doubles record with three different partners. Komar qualified as a national seed for both the NCAA Singles & Doubles Championship (with partner Kylie Collins), automatically earning her ITA Singles All-American honors as well as ITA Doubles All-American honors.

In addition to Collins’ success in doubles with Komar, the junior enjoyed a strong first-year as a Tiger under Fogleman. Collins was invited to compete at the 2022 ITA All-American Championships in October, college tennis’ most prestigious fall tournament featuring the top players across the nation. In the singles draw, Collins took down four strong opponents in straight sets to advance to the singles final, the furthest run for a Tiger at the prestigious tournament, where she finished as a runner-up. Collins spent the spring playing at the top singles and doubles spots for the Tigers and qualified as a national seed for the NCAA Doubles Championship and at-large for the NCAA Singles Championship. Collins was named an ITA Doubles All-American alongside Komar at the end of the season, the third All-American honor of her career dating back to her time as Texas under Fogleman.

Fogleman, the 2021 ITA National Assistant Coach of the Year and a Louisiana native, returned to his home state after spending five seasons in Austin, including his last four as associate head coach.

At Texas, Fogleman proved to be one of the brightest talents in collegiate tennis coaching, recruiting a top-ranked class and helping transform the Longhorns into a national powerhouse. In 2020, he recruited the No. 1 class in the country, including 2022 Singles National Champion and ITA Player of the Year Peyton Stearns. Stearns, the top-ranked player in the 2020 class according to the Universal Tennis Ratings, was one of four top-10 talents Fogleman signed that season, including Charlotte Chavitipon (No. 3 UTR), Kylie Collins (No. 6), and Malaika Rapolu (No. 8). Under Fogleman’s tutelage, Stearns finished the 2022 season 33-2.

During Fogleman’s time in Austin, the Longhorns won four-straight Big 12 titles, in addition to the 2021 and 2022 national championships. In 2021, he helped guide Collins and Lulu Sun to the Doubles National Championship match, the program’s first appearance in the doubles final since 1996. Fogleman was also instrumental in the success of Bianca Turati, who reached No. 1 in the ITA Rankings in 2018 and earned Big 12 Player of the Year that same season. Anna Turati, Bianca’s sister, would reach No. 2 in the ITA ratings in 2019. Together, the Turati sisters earned six First Team All-Big 12 selections, one Big 12 Freshman of the Year award, two All-American honors, and five invitations to the NCAA Individual Tournament.

Prior to his time at Texas, Fogleman served as assistant women’s tennis coach at Rice (2014-2017) and Tulane (2011-2014). At Rice, Fogleman was a part of three straight Conference USA Championships, the most consecutive titles in league history. In 2015, he earned Texas Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors and was a finalist for National Assistant Coach of the Year. In 2017, he recruited the No. 1 recruit in the country, and in 2016, he landed the nation’s top-ranked transfer. At Tulane, where Fogleman earned his MBA in 2014 from the Freeman School of Business, Fogleman coached 10 all-conference players, including 2014 C-USA Player of the Year Klara Vyskocliva.

A 2005 graduate of Jesuit High School in New Orleans, Fogleman became a two-time first-team All-American at the University of North Carolina, where his ranking reached as high as No. 3 nationally in doubles and No. 30 in singles. A team captain in 2008-09, Fogleman reached the NCAA doubles quarterfinals in 2008 and the semifinals in 2009. He earned his degree in communications from UNC in 2009. He and his wife, Lindsay, have two children, Ben and Mae.
