Cross Country Earns Numerous All-Academic Honors From USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS – Both the LSU men’s and women’s cross-country teams were named All-Academic by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association on Thursday afternoon. Two Tigers also earned individual recognition as All-Academic members.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. The LSU women’s team held an average GPA of 3.427 throughout the most recent semester, while the men held a GPA of 3.385.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.

The two Tigers to earn All-Academic status individually were Lorena Rangel Batres and Ella Chesnut. This was the second season in-a-row that Chesnut has earned this honor after making the NCAA XC Championships a season ago. Thursday’s announcement marked the first time Rangel Batres was named USTFCCCA XC All-Academic.
