BATON ROUGE – Panel discussions and fireside chats empower stakeholders in this emerging arena of college athletics
The NILSU Summit was the first of its kind at LSU. The event provided LSU student-athletes with education, branding advice, and partnership opportunities at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Sunday, August 25 from 11:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
Hosted by NILSU, LSU’s Name, Image, & Likeness department, the Summit gave student-athletes, coaches, and administrators an opportunity to receive advice from past and present LSU athletes, administrators, and business professionals with experience in the NIL landscape. Panelists spoke about how to negotiate deals, how to protect your mental health, how to leverage your social media, how to attract brands, and more.
“We created the Summit with the idea to provide student-athletes with an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and engage with brands,” said Mary Claire Logue, Director of NIL Development & Partnerships.
Participating Fortune 500 companies at the Summit included Powerade, YETI, Raising Cane’s, and Sunshine John Deere. In addition to the other activations they have planned this upcoming year, Zach Corbin, Regional Director of Marketing for Raising Cane’s, announced at the Summit that they would be selecting five student-athletes who were in attendance to give NIL deals to.
The NILSU Summit was the first of many exceptional educational programming to come from the NILSU department this year. Stay connected to see what is next.
