Birmingham, Ala. – Four gymnasts were named to the 2023-24 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll, announced on Wednesday by SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey.
A total of 1,459 student-athletes were named to this year’s First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll as freshmen Kylie Coen, Amari Drayton, Konnor McClain and Leah Miller all earned a spot on the list. LSU now owns a total of 305 honor roll selections in program history.
The First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2023-24 academic calendar. In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher, completed 24 semester hours, and have been a member of a varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
All four gymnasts were a part of a historic national championship season in just their first year as a Tiger in 2024.
A native of Bedford, Texas, Coen competed three exhibition routines this year and just completed her first year in sport administration, earning a GPA of 3.918.
Drayton, a native of Spring, Texas, competed in every meet on vault and floor for the Tigers as a freshman. She recorded season highs of 9.975 and 9.925 on each event. She earned a GPA of 3.646 in her first year as an entrepreneurship major.
McClain had a standout year in the classroom and on the competition floor in her debut season. The Las Vegas, Nevada, native earned All-SEC and All-Freshman honors in year one, became an individual SEC Champion on beam and earned four All-America honors on the year. She completed her first year in interdisciplinary studies with a GPA of 3.611.
A native of Tucson, Arizona, Miller completed her first year in mass communications with a GPA of 3.576.
