Tiger Golfers Move To Second Entering Final Round At The Ally

BATON ROUGE – The No. 6 ranked LSU women’s golf team made a three-spot jump up the leaderboard and stands in second place after two rounds of The Ally at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi.
The Tigers posted a second round of 4-over par 292 giving them a 36-hole total of 8-over 584 (292-292). LSU jumped from fifth to second after Tuesday’s round.
Florida is the tournament leader at 578 (2-over) after rounds of 285-293. First-round leader Indiana is third at 9-over 585 (281-304) with Mississippi State fourth at 587 (284-303) and James Madison rounding out the top five at 12-over 588 (291-297).
The Tigers had two counting rounds under par as senior Carla Tejedo posted a four-birdie, 2-under par round of 70 to finish 36 holes at even par 144 (74-70) to stand alone in seventh place in the individual competition.
Sophomore Taylor Riley had four birdies as well in a 1-under round of 71 and is at 2-over par 146 (75-71) to register a T12 position in the standings.
LSU also counted a 3-over round of 75 by Latanna Stone and a 4-over total from Jordan Fischer. All four golfers are in the top 20 of the individual competition.
Kendall Turner of James Madison, Caroline Craig of Indiana and Surapa Janthamunee of Mississippi State are the individual leaders at 4-under par 140. Turner is the only one of the three to record two under par rounds of 69-71.
LSU continues to be at the top of the statistics on the par 3 holes at 2-over par with Louisville and second in par 5 scoring at 14-under par, behind Tulsa’s -15. LSU continues to lead the tournament with 34 birdies.
Edit Hertzman, who had back-to-back eagles on the par 5 ninth and the par 5 10th holes in a round of 78, leads the field on the par 5 holes at 7-under par. Riley is T2 on the par 3s at 2-under and the team leader with nine birdies.
