BATON ROUGE – Drew Doyle posted his third under-par round on Wednesday, leading the Tigers with a 4-under 68 as LSU wrapped up play at the NCAA Norman Regional at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.

Doyle’s closing round of 68 allowed him to tie for seventh place overall in the individual standings with a 54-hole total of 8-under 208 (71-69-68). Doyle had 14 birdies, four bogeys and one double-bogey over the three days. It also marked the second straight year Doyle has posted a Top 10 finish at the NCAA Regional. Last year, he tied for fifth at the NCAA Stockton Regional with another 8-under score.

In nine career NCAA Regional rounds, Doyle has been under par six times and even-par once.

As a team, LSU put together another strong round of 5-under 283 to finish in eighth place in the 14-team field. LSU finished at 9-under 855 for the 54-hole event.

Alabama won the NCAA Norman Regional team title at 28-under. They were followed by Oklahoma (-25), Colorado (-23), Texas Tech (-22) and Duke (-21). The top five teams advanced to the NCAA Championships later this month.

Individually, Texas Tech’s Ludvig Aberg claimed medalist honors at 14-under.

LSU once again blistered the front nine on Wednesday, playing the first nine holes to 7-under par. Garrett Barber and Connor Gaunt each had three birdies on the front side and were 3-under at the turn. Barber and Gaunt both finished the round at 1-under 71 after giving back two strokes on the back nine. Barber finished the tournament at even-par 216 (74-71-71).

Doyle followed his 1-under 35 on the front nine with three birdies over the final nine holes to get to 4-under. On the backside, Doyle birdie No. 10, 13, and 17 to finish with a bogey-free round.

Cohen Trolio shot a 1-over 73 to account for LSU’s fourth and final score. Trolio tied for 23rd overall at 3-under 213 (73-67-73). Luke Haskew, playing in the No. 5 spot for the Tigers, shot a 78.
