BATON ROUGEThe LSU Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes (CCACSA) recognizes six student-athletes for their scholastic and community achievements each month. Student-athletes are chosen based on their commitment to academic success and for their devotion to volunteerism and service to the community.

Here are the September 2021 CCACSA’s staff Student-Athletes of the Month:

Madison Martin: Freshman, Volleyball, Ormond Beach, Fla. (Pre-Med)

Nominator – Ericka Lavender, CCACSA Associate Director: “I nominate Madison for her outstanding work ethic and dedication to academics during her first summer semester at LSU. Madison enrolled in 11 semester hours during the 5-week summer terms and earned a 3.9 GPA. She never complained about her back-to-back tutoring schedule, study hall hours, or anything asked of her academically. Great job, Madison, on an EXCELLENT semester; keep up the great work.”

 

Xavier Pinson: Senior, Men’s Basketball, Chicago, Ill. (Religion)

Nominator – Ericka Lavender, CCACSA Associate Director: “Xavier transferred to LSU this summer. Due to the transition, he needed to complete 15 hours of coursework during the summer semester. Xavier crushed it and passed all 15 hours this summer with above a 3.00 cumulative GPA. Great job Xavier, keep up the excellent work.”

 

Ashyn Rasnick-Pope: Senior, Beach Volleyball, Dallas, Texas (Mass Communication)

Nominator –  Ericka Lavender, CCACSA Associate Director: “Ashlyn did a great job at the end of the Spring semester to turn around academics and earned a personal semester high GPA. I appreciated her hard work and a new commitment to academics to be a positive team leader and mentor to her teammates.”

 

Efton Reid: Freshman, Men’s Basketball, Richmond, Va.. (Pre-Finance)

Nominator – Ericka Lavender, CCACSA Associate Director: “Efton did well during his first summer semester at LSU. He participated in SASP and completed two courses. He ended with a 4.00 cumulative GPA.  I am nominating Efton, because he adjusted to LSU with ease and is a positive teammate and student-athlete role model. Great Job Efton!”

It is through living the values of the Total Team Commitment 2017-2022, particularly education, academic success, and service to the community that six student-athletes are recognized as Cox Communications Academic Center Student-Athlete of the month. These values are fundamental to the growth and development of our student-athletes as they enter to learn, then leave to serve.

The Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes is a 54,000 square-foot facility composed of teams for academic affairs, student affairs and information technology, who annually serve more than 500 student-athletes. The purpose of the CCACSA is to provide an all-inclusive, student-centered support structure for all student-athletes from matriculation, through graduation, and life beyond.
