Baton Rouge, La. – LSU track and field hurdler Damion Thomas secured a spot on the Jamaican National Team for the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday morning at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association Senior Championships.
Thomas clocked a time of 13.11 seconds in the finals of the 110 meter hurdles to place second in the event therefore guaranteeing himself a trip to Tokyo. Thomas, the 2018 U20 world champion in the 110 meter hurdles, will be making his first ever Olympic appearance later this summer.
Thomas ran a prelims time of 13.27 on Saturday evening before returning to the track this morning for the finals. The 13.11 breaks his previous LSU school record of 13.22 that he ran in March of this year at the Texas Relays. The time of 13.11 also ranks No. 6 in the world this year and is the fourth fastest time on the USTFCCCA all dates, all time collegiate list.
