Seven Tigers Named to SEC Academic Honor Roll

BATON ROUGE – Seven LSU men’s tennis players were named to the 2021 Southeastern Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll on Thursday afternoon.

The 2021 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll includes the sports of baseball, golf, softball, tennis, and track & field, and it is based on grades from the 2020 Summer, 2020 Fall and 2021 Spring terms. A total of 1,615 SEC student-athletes were named to the Spring Honor Roll Thursday by league Commissioner Greg Sankey.

The LSU men’s tennis players honored by the SEC include Malik Bhatnagar (General Business), Tomas Descarrega (Sport Administration), Ronald Hohmann (Sport Administration), Boris Kozlov (Mass Communications), Joey Thomas (Business), Rafael Wagner (Finance), and Nick Watson (Accounting).

The LSU men’s tennis team adds to their academic accomplishments for this season. Along with having seven student-athletes named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, men’s tennis had the highest team GPA out of any LSU sport with a 3.66.

Any student-athlete who participates in a Southeastern Conference championship sport or a student-athlete who participates in a sport listed on his/her institution’s NCAA Sports Sponsorship Form is eligible for nomination to the Academic Honor Roll. The following criteria are followed:

(3) The student-athlete must have been a member of a varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
