Marshall Named Semifinalist for The Bowerman

Baton Rouge, La. – Tonea Marshall was named a semifinalist for The Bowerman on Wednesday afternoon.

It’s Marshall’s first time being named a semifinalist as she has been on the last nine straight editions of The Bowerman Watch List dating back to February 5, 2020. Marshall threw down the fourth and sixth fastest times in NCAA history this outdoor season. She ran a 12.44 at the NCAA East Preliminaries in the 100 meter hurdles to make her the fourth best collegiate performer ever in the event. She followed that up with a 12.48 in the prelims at the NCAA Championships for the sixth fastest time in collegiate history.

Marshall was unfortunately not able to lineup in the finals of the 100 meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships due to slightly aggravating her hamstring in the finals of the 4×100 meter relay at the NCAA Championships. Marshall ranks No. 2 in the world this season with her personal best of 12.44 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles; that time is also an LSU school record.

Marshall won the 2021 SEC outdoor title in the 100 meter hurdles and she ends her collegiate career having not lost a race to a collegiate competitor since June of 2019 going a combined 17-0 since the start of the 2020 indoor season.
