Women’s Tennis Ranked No. 17 in Final ITA Rankings

Baton Rouge, La. – The LSU Women’s Tennis team was ranked No. 17 in the final ITA team rankings of the 2021 dual season.

A final ranking at No. 17 adds another achievement to a strong season for the Tigers as it is the highest final ranking in program history, beating a previous high of No. 18 achieved four times. LSU concluded the season with a record of 15-6, including a program record nine wins in SEC play during the regular season.

The Tigers regular season success saw them earn the No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament and host a regional for the first time in the program’s history. LSU swept Boston University, 4-0, in the first round before losing in the second round to Michigan in a 4-3 match that went down to the wire.

Individually, LSU had two players ranked in the final rankings. Senior Paris Corley heavily contributed to the team’s success and was rewarded individually with a final ranking of No. 40. Corley finished the 2020-21 season with a 22-5 overall record in singles and a run to the quarterfinals of the 2021 NCAA Singles Tournament.

Senior Taylor Bridges was the other Tiger ranked, finishing at No. 64. Bridges played the No. 1 spot for LSU all season and finished the year with a 14-12 overall record. She earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Singles Tournament, where she fell in the first round to Wake Forest’s Anna Campana.
