LSU pitchers Landon Marceaux and Devin Fontenot combined to limited Alabama to one run Friday night as the Tigers edged the Crimson Tide, 2-1, in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field. LSU improved to 31-18 overall, 10-15 in the SEC, while Alabama dropped to 28-18 overall and 11-13 in conference play. Marceaux (6-4) scattered 11 hits – 10 singles – in 6.1 shutout innings with one walk and six strikeouts, firing 100 pitches. Fontenot worked the final 2.2 innings to earn his fourth save of the season, allowing one run on two hits with one walk and three strikeouts. Alabama starting pitcher Tyler Ras (6-3) was charged with the loss, surrendering two runs on four hits in 6.2 innings with three walks and eight strikeouts.
