The Bowerman Watch List – Tonea Marshall

Baton Rouge, La. – Tonea Marshall, SEC champion in the 100 meter hurdles, has been named to The Bowerman Watch List for the eighth consecutive time on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bowerman is presented annually to the top collegiate track and field athlete each December. Marshall has been on the watch list dating back to the 2020 indoor season.

Marshall most recently won her first ever SEC individual outdoor title with a winning time of 12.62 that had a helping wind. The race that made waves in the hurdling world was her race a day before in prelims when she clocked a career best time of 12.52 seconds. That broke her own LSU school record, moved her up to No. 6 on the all-time collegiate list, and it ranks as the fourth fastest time in the world this season.

Marshall has also served as the lead leg of LSU’s 4×100 meter relay team that won the SEC title for the fifth straight year on Saturday with a world leading time of 42.52 seconds. Marshall is a perfect 4-0 in the 100 meter hurdles this year, and she has led the 4×100 meter relay to six event titles this season.

Marshall hasn’t lost a collegiate hurdling race since the summer of 2019 when she took third at the NCAA Championships. She is a perfect 8-0 in finals of hurdles races dating back to the start of the 2020 indoor season.
