The Bowerman Watch List – Tonea Marshall

Baton Rouge, La. Tonea Marshall is once again featured on The Bowerman Watch List for the seventh time in her career The Bowerman committee announced on Wednesday afternoon.  

Marshall has remained undefeated in her feature event, the 100 meter hurdles, this outdoor season. She’s run the event three times and is coming off the fastest all-conditions time of her life after she clocked a time of 12.53 with a helping wind of 2.6 meters per second at the LSU Alumni Gold on April 24. She’s also won races in the 100 hurdles at the Crimson Tide Invitational (12.70w) and Texas Relays (12.75).

She’s also the lead leg of the second fastest 4×100 meter relay in the world this year that has gone 5-0 in races in which it has gotten the stick around the track. Marshall is in fine shape as she also boasts PRs in her non-primary events in the 100 meters (11.55) and 200 meters (23.43).

Marshall is hasn’t lost a collegiate hurdling race since the summer of 2019 when she took third at the NCAA Championships. She is a perfect 7-0 in finals of hurdles races dating back to the start of the 2020 indoor season. In the 2021 world rankings, her season best wind legal time of 12.75 seconds ranks as the 10th fastest in the world. If you go off all-conditions times, she ranks No. 4 in the world list this season with the aforementioned time of 12.53w.
