Women's Tennis Earns Regional Host for NCAA Tournament

Baton Rouge, La. – The LSU Tennis Complex will play host to the NCAA Tournament’s Baton Rouge Regional as the No. 12-seeded LSU Women’s Tennis team (14-5) will host the Boston University Terriers, Michigan Wolverines, and Rice Owls, beginning on Friday, May 7.

“We’re super excited,” co-head coach Michael Sell said. “This hosting is attributed to the high level that our team’s played at all season. Being a national seed and hosting an NCAA regional was a goal of ours, and we love that we get to start the tournament playing in front of our fans.”

First round action begins on Friday, May 7 with Michigan facing Rice at 10 a.m. CT, followed by LSU taking on Boston at 1 p.m. The winner of those two matchups will move on to the second round, where the teams will face off on Saturday, May 8, at 1 p.m. for a spot in the Sweet 16.

This marks the first time the Tigers will host a regional in the NCAA Tournament, with their No. 12 seeding also marking a new program-high for NCAA seeding.

“We’re fired up and excited to host three really good teams in Baton Rouge this weekend and we can’t wait to get it going.” Sell said.
