Three Tigers Notch Top-12 Finishes to Kick Off FINA Diving World Cup

TOKYO – LSU divers Juan Celaya-Hernandez, Anne Tuxen, and Helle Tuxen were all in action on Sunday to kick off their week at the 2021 FINA Diving World Cup in Tokyo, Japan. Celaya-Hernandez competed on Three-Meter Synchro with his partner Yahel Castillo, and the Tuxen sisters competed together on Women’s Platform Synchro. The Tuxen sisters will be back in action tomorrow as they will compete individually on the Three-Meter Springboard.

Celaya-Hernandez and his partner Castillo finished in eighth place with a score of 380.49. They finished in fifth place in the prelim with a score of 379.56.

The Tuxen sisters dove to a score of 252.23 in the prelim to advance to the final. In the final, they finished in 11th place with a score of 241.68.

“It is a rewarding experience to compete at this level with the world’s best divers at the site of the 2021 Olympic Games,” said LSU head diving coach Doug Shaffer. “I am proud of Anne and Helle’s performance as it was their highest international place finish and a Norwegian record. Juan and Yahel were off on one dive in the finals, but a top eight finish on the world stage is a respectable finish looking ahead to the Olympics.”
