Laird Earns SEC Runner of the Week Award

Baton Rouge, La.  –  LSU sprinter Terrance Laird picked up his second SEC weekly award of the outdoor season on Tuesday as he was named the SEC Men’s Runner of the Week for his efforts at last weekend’s Boots Garland Invitational.

Laird ran the fastest 100 meter time of his career with a wind legal 10.06 on Saturday to win the 100 meter race. It moved him into No. 3 on the NCAA list this season, and it marked the fourth fastest time in LSU history. He also anchored LSU’s 4×100 meter relay team to its third win in a row as they clocked a time 38.82 and beat the NCAA’s top ranked 4×100 meter relay, Houston.

It’s the fourth time in Laird’s career that he has earned an SEC weekly honor with two coming this outdoor season, one this indoor season, and one during the 2020 indoor season.

The Tigers are back in action this weekend as they host the LSU Alumni Gold on Friday and Saturday at Bernie Moore Track Stadium. Admission is free.
