Women’s, Men’s Cross Country Teams Earn USTFCCCA Academic Honors

Baton Rouge, La.  –  The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced its academic awards from the 2020-21 season on Thursday afternoon and both the LSU women’s and men’s squads were honored.

Teams that were recognized by the USTFCCCA had to maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. The LSU women’s squad had a team GPA of 3.582 while the men registered a team GPA of 3.164. Head coach Houston Franks led the women’s team to their best finish at the SEC meet since 1999. LSU finished fifth on the women’s side as Baton Rouge and the University Club served as the host of the SEC conference meet. Katy-Ann McDonald was named to the All-SEC Second Team and Shelby Spoor was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. The men finished eighth place overall at the SEC cross country meet for the second straight year.
