West Point, Miss. – A two-day total of 10-under 566 (281-285) has the No. 25 LSU men’s golf team in a tie for fifth place at the Old Waverly Collegiate that is being hosted at the Old Waverly Golf Club.
Michael Sanders was the low guy of the day for the Tigers with his 3-under 69. The junior went out with a 3-under on the front nine that featured one eagle, one birdie, and seven pars. The back nine proved tougher as he closed with an even par 36 that had three birdies, three pars, and three bogeys. Sanders’ two-day total of 1-over 145 has him tied for 44th.
Garrett Barber, Nicholas Arcement, and Connor Gaunt all turned in counting scores of even par 72s to pitch in to LSU’s team score for round two. Gaunt is LSU’s highest ranked player on the current leaderboard at 4-under 140 through 36 holes of play; that has him in a tie for ninth. Barber (-2/T18th) and Arcement (-1/T30th) are under par for the tourney as well.
Drew Doyle has fired back to back rounds of 1-over 73 and is tied for 44th at 1-over 145. Chris Woollam went with a 1-under 71 in round two that had four birdies, 11 pars, and a bogey; Woollam is playing as an individual and is tied for 59th at 3-over 147.
The Tigers are seven strokes off the pace of No. 9 Texas A&M, who leads with a 17-under 559. The third and final round will begin for LSU at 8:50 a.m. CT on Sunday morning.
