Men's Tennis Falls in Rematch Against Tulane
NEW ORLEANS, LA.—The LSU men’s tennis team was defeated by Tulane, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the City Park/Pepsi Tennis Center.
The Tigers fall to 10-9 on the season.
The ball didn’t fall the Tigers way in any sense on Sunday. Doubles started off well for LSU after Boris Kozlov and Nick Watson notched their tenth win in the dual season after taking down Luis Erlenbusch and Benji Jacobson, 6-2. After that, Tulane took the doubles point with two 6-3 victories on court one and two.
The lone point of the day came from freshman Benjamin Ambrosio. The Argentina native took down Tulane’s Akos Kotorman, 6-0, 6-3. The Green Wave started rolling after that, as No. 40 Hamish Stewart defeated Ronald Hohmann, 6-3, 6-1. Tulane took a 3-1 lead after Rafael de Alba defeated Joey Thomas, 6-3, 6-1. The match was clinched after Boris Kozlov fell to Tulane’s Billy Suarez, 6-4, 6-2. The rest of the matches were played out and none went the Tigers way. Freshman Joao Graca took the first set against Luis Erlenbusch, but dropped the next two and lost the match, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. No. 53 Ewan Moore defeated Rafael Wagner, 7-6(3), 6-3, to give Tulane the victory, 6-1.
The Tigers return home for the first time since February 28 to take on Alabama on Friday, March 26 at 3:00 p.m.
