Reese Moffatt Named SEC Offensive Player of the Week

Baton Rouge, La. Reese Moffatt was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday morning after her three points against Florida on Sunday helped LSU soccer pick up its sixth win of the season.

Moffatt had never scored a goal in the first 58 games of her collegiate career, but that all changed Sunday afternoon at the Orange Beach Sportsplex. Less than four minutes before halftime, LSU won a corner and Moffatt trotted over to play the ball into the box for LSU. She struck the ball perfectly and nobody was able to touch it as it curled into the back of the net from the corner to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute of play.

Late in the second half with all things knotted up at one apiece, Moffatt sent another beautiful service into the box. It found the head of Molly Thompson from just inside the six for the game winning goal in the 89th minute of play. It resulted in LSU’s third ever win over Florida.

For Moffatt it marks her first ever multi-point game in her collegiate career. Her only other assist came in 2018 in a 2-0 win over Samford. It’s Moffatt’s first career SEC weekly award.
