Throws Complete Day One of NCAA Championships
Fayetteville, Ark. – Monique Hardy (9th place), Jon Nerdal (9th place) and Jake Norris (13th place) represented LSU track and field in the weight throw on day one of the NCAA Championships Thursday evening at the Randal Tyson Track Center.

Hardy, a freshman from Webster, N.Y., took ninth in her NCAA debut with a throw of 70′ 6.50″ (21.50 meters). Hardy was the only freshman in the nation to advance to the NCAA meet in the women’s weight throw. She won four event titles during her indoor campaign in the weight throw and was named the 2021 SEC Women’s Freshman Field Athlete of the Year.
Nerdal placed ninth in his first ever NCAA indoor meet with a heave of 71′ 2″ (21.69 meters), and fellow thrower Jake Norris placed 13th with a mark of 67′ 10.25″ (20.68 meters). Nerdal won three event titles on the season in the weight throw and Norris had one event title to his name.
Day two of the NCAA Championships begins on Friday at 11:30 a.m. CT for the men’s squad with two-time national champion JuVaughn Harrison competing in the high jump. The women’s first competitors are Abigail O’Donoghue and Nyagoa Bayak in the women’s high jump at 4:30 p.m. CT.
