Softball Moves Up in NFCA Coaches Poll

BATON ROUGE – After claiming the three-game series against No. 7 Texas over the weekend, the LSU softball team moves to No. 12 in the USA Today/NFCA DI Coaches Poll and remains at No. 12 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.

LSU, who has been ranked every week since the end of the 2014 season, took games two and three to earn the series win over No. 7 Texas. The Tigers fell in game one, 8-5. The Tigers came bounced back in game two and won, 2-1 in eight innings. The bats were explosive in game three, claiming a 7-2 win.

The Tigers earned a total of 449 points in the NFCA poll and 285 points in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.

The Tigers open up SEC action this weekend on the road, traveling to No. 22/17 Tennessee. The Tigers will play Friday at 5 p.m. CT on SECN+. Saturday’s game is set for Noon CT on SEC Network with Sunday’s game slated for noon CT on SECN+.
