Harrison Remains on The Bowerman Watch List

Baton Rouge, La. JuVaughn Harrison made career appearance No. 5 on The Bowerman Watch List Thursday afternoon. The Bowerman is awarded to the top collegiate track and field athlete each year.

Harrison is coming off a SEC sweep of high jump and long jump titles at the conference meet last weekend. He cruised to the high jump title with a clearance of 7′ 2.50″ (2.20 meters) before setting a personal best and LSU school record of 27′ 4″ (8.33 meters) in the long jump. His long jump of 27′ 4″ made him the fifth best collegiate performer in the record books. He also became only the third man in SEC indoor meet history to sweep the high jump and long jump titles.

Harrison, along with his teammate Terrance Laird and assistant coach Bennie Brazell, were honored on Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association with regional athlete of the year awards. Harrison is scheduled to compete in the long jump and high jump on March 12 at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
