Baton Rouge, La. – The LSU Invitational wrapped up Sunday at the University Club. LSU finished in 13th for the three day, 54-hole tournament
Michael Sanders (ind.) had LSU’s best finish of the weekend with a three round total of 6-over 222. He shot rounds of 77-68-77 en route to a tie for 21st. Sanders capitalized on the 12 par 5s he played throughout the tournament racking up a cumulative score of 4-under par on those holes; it was the sixth best par 5 scoring average (4.67 avg.)
Chris Woollam (ind.) finished two shots off the pace of Sanders with an 8-over 224 (79-73-72) to place tied for 33rd. Woollam’s third round 72 was the lowest score by an LSU player on Sunday. He posted a workmanlike 14 pars to go along with two birdies and two pars. Woollam tied for the most pars in the field with 39 on the 54 holes played.
Garrett Barber posted a final round of 2-over 74 to go along with scores of 77 and 75 from rounds one and two. His three-day score of 10-over 226 earned him a tie for 43rd. Drew Doyle 12-over 228 (70-76-82) and Trey Winstead 13-over 229 (80-73-76) finished tied for 55th and 58th, respectively.
Nicholas Arcement (14-over 230/T61st), Connor Gaunt (17-over 233/T72nd) and Hayden White (31-over 247/87th) rounded out LSU’s competitors in the field.
No. 6 Illinois won the tournament with a 12-over 876, and Jackson Suber of Ole Miss captured the solo title with a 5-under 211; Suber was only one of two players to finish the event under par.
