Men’s Track and Field Sweeps Three SEC Weekly Awards

Baton Rouge, La. –  It was a clean sweep for the LSU men’s track and field team for weekly SEC awards handed out on Tuesday afternoon. JuVaughn Harrison (Field Athlete of the Week), Terrance Laird (Track Athlete of the Week) and Sean Dixon-Bodie (Freshman of the Week) were the recipients of the SEC awards announced by the conference office. All three Tigers registered their marks at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Laird competed in the 200 meters for the second time this season and clocked a world leading and NCAA best time of 20.41 for the 2021 indoor season. The time ranks as the second fastest in LSU history behind Xavier Carter’s 20.30 that he ran in 2006.

Harrison continued his stellar indoor season with a season best leap of 26′ 6.50″ (8.09 meters) to capture silver in the long jump on Saturday at the Tyson Invitational. It’s the best long jump in the SEC this season and it ranks No. 2 nationally.

Dixon-Bodie nearly had a near personal best in the triple jump with a mark of 53′ 6.25″ (16.31 meters) en route to claiming silver in the triple jump. It was the third best mark in the nation this weekend and his personal best of 53′ 7″ that came at the Louisiana Invitational (January 29) still ranks No. 5 nationally.

This marks the fifth straight week member(s) of the LSU track and field team has been honored by the SEC. A full list of honorees are below.
