Soccer Announces Signing of Riley Dixon

Baton Rouge, La. – LSU soccer announced the signing of Riley Dixon on Wednesday. Dixon, a three-year letterwinner at the University of Delaware, will be eligible to play the 2021 fall season for LSU.

“We are thrilled to be adding Riley’s attacking prowess to our roster,” LSU head coach Sian Hudson said. “Her drive and determination to get to goal and ability to strike from distance are two of her greatest qualities and are key attributes we wanted to add to our attacking unit.

“I have no doubt she will add an extra dimension to our attack with her ability to hold a ball up and link others into the game; she’s also someone who loves to get on the half turn and run at defenders. We expect her to come in and make an immediate impact with her experience and competitive nature.”

Dixon has scored seven goals and five assists during her NCAA career in 55 games played that includes 44 starts. Dixon plays up front and will give LSU’s attack a boost on the offensive side when she arrives. In 2019 as a junior, the forward had a career high and team leading four assists to go along with one goal.

She was named to the 2018 All-Colonial Athletic Association Second Team after leading Delaware with a career-high four goals, three assists for a total of 11 points as a sophomore. She scored her first career collegiate brace on oct. 18, 2018, against William & Mary.

The native of San Diego, California, stepped up immediately and played large minutes as a freshman in 2017. She had two goals and two assists that season; her first career collegiate goal came on Sept. 3, 2017 versus Lehigh and it served as the game winner. She was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team in 2017 after tallying six points as a freshman.

Dixon will have one year of eligibility remaining and is set to join the LSU roster this summer.
