SEC Establishes New Format for SEC Swimming & Diving Championships

BATON ROUGE – The SEC has established a new format for the 2021 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships.

The championships will now feature three separate events:

  • Men’s and Women’s Diving on February 17-20 at the Mizzou Aquatic Center in Columbia, Mo.

  • Women’s Swimming on February 17-20 at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.

  • Men’s Swimming on February 23-26 at the Mizzou Aquatic Center in Columbia, Mo.

“I think the SEC and our head coaches put together what would be the safest and most reasonable way to have a championship this year,” said LSU head swim coach Dave Geyer. “While this year, and hopefully just this year, will look a whole lot different than previous championships it allows our team to focus on their end of season goals.”

“I am excited to be preparing for our modified championship season,” said LSU head diving coach Doug Shaffer. “Due to COVID, our conference championships will be conducted in a format best representing the safety and well-being of the student athletes, coaches, and officials. It is disappointing that we will not all be together but excited nonetheless to have the opportunity to compete.”

The Tigers will be back in action on Friday, January 8 as they will hit the road and head to Tallahassee, Florida to take on Florida State.
